This is the Second book of Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. In this series there are only two kind of wolf shifters: The Reds and The Gray. As far as I can tell, both side are opposed to marrying each other’s kind.

~But then again Fate has other ideas.

As the story kicks off, we are present by two individuals that share the same DNA, twins and one of them was murdered or she killed herself.

Or so they thought, hence the search began. Which includes, deaths, guns and going inside an abandon silver mine…aside from that, families reunite and love is found.

I thought I wasn’t going to like this one, that it would be like book one. Then again, we should never judge a series by the first book.

I like how it comes together, the aspect in which the book originally started was really good. I was shocked when the characters form the previous books was mentioned even. Never thought that they were connected somehow.

Over all, I enjoyed reading this one. This book presented another side of my beloved PNR series.  A different sets of myth. And I am slowing warming up with the idea.

I hope that book three would continue keeping me hyped!

Till next time!

My Review

Wunder reunites with her long-thought-of-dead mother in this second book of Wunder Series. In this sequel, we see an even more badass Wunder and Pete as they battle the living dead in an interesting contrast of sweet romance and flawless fighting skills, though with less sexy scenes. Cool as ever, Tank has revealed a vulnerable side to his personality and it just adds to his awesomeness. A new character has been introduced and, in the short span of this fast read, she has already wormed her way into my heart. I love how this series just keeps on improving and impressing me. I highly recommend zombie fans to read this book. This is not a standalone though, so please read Wunder: The Approach first.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review—all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Milly Taiden

Hi! I’m Milly (AKA April Angel) I love to write sexy stories. They’re usually either paranormal or contemporary with a large dose of heat. My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. My contemporaries are usually anything from soldiers to corporate romances.

I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog “Needy Speedy”. Don’t ask.

When I’m not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I’m not doing that, I’m usually writing because the voices won’t shut up.

I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn’t, right?) and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.

Come on over and visit me! I love to meet new readers!

Tethys smiles and briefly closes her eyes, looking as if she’s absorbing my words or feelings then lightly touches my snout and speak in Latin. I’ve never spoken it before, yet I understand most of what she is saying. I believe the spell Dezso cast earlier has passed on his knowledge of the language to me and I am thankful for the understanding.

She looks up to the sky while still holding my snout and says, “Victoria concordia crescit, vinculum iuris.”—Victory through harmony the chain of law.

The sky suddenly lets loose with a roar of thunder and a flash of lightning, causing my heart to beat even quicker. I do not understand the next words she speaks. It sounds like a different language. She takes a pause to breath deep and looks me in the eyes and says, “Venistire mane bisdonec denuo completus sis”—from whence you came, you shall remain, until you are complete again.

I am suddenly pulled from beneath her palms and raised up above the water as if someone is carrying me. Then, I quickly fall into the water which is alight with all colors of the spectrum. I’m pulled down to depths I did not believe existed here. Deeper and deeper. The light gets brighter. I must close my eyes for it hurts so badly. This light. It’s almost like the strongest fires beyond ones imagination. It burns me to my deepest depths and twists my insides to a point I can no longer draw breath. This is death. I am dying.

The pain decreases and the light dims. I find myself chained as if a prisoner against a rough rock wall. Cuffed at wrist and ankle. I am now in human form once again. My wish has been granted!

I smile briefly than I look upon my limbs and wiggle the digits only to feel as if I am being watched very closely. I glance around but only see a few inches in front of my face. Nothing beyond that…I tug on the bindings to see if I could get loose. They will not budge. Remembering I have a voice now and knowledge of language I call out, “Hello? I know you are there. Please tell me why I am held like a prisoner? Did I do wrong? Is this my sacrifice?”

I feel a breeze against my face but still see nothing beyond sand, rocks and some algae. Ghostly fingers press beneath my chin and lift, so I am looking straight ahead. I see a faint outline of a woman.

She has very bright eyes the color of the sun. Golden, orange, so very bright and vivid. The colors seem to swirl, move around and change slightly in brightness. A hand skims the right side of my face.

With a melodic voice, a woman speaks in a whispered breath to me, “No my child you have done no wrong. I apologize for this but I feel it is best this way to apply your binding mark. It is most painful and I do not wish you to injure yourself.”

Then suddenly, her hands and eyes are gone and I miss the soothing, calming touch they gave to me. I’m afraid. So very afraid…

Review: Inferno (Chronicles of Nick #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Posted on Updated on

Inferno (Chronicles of Nick, #4)

Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.

But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it’s the one that leaves your enemies confused, and you even more so.

And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?

My Review

Our beloved Nick is back , all healed from his comatose state in Infamous. Facing new and old enemies, Nicholas Ambrosius Gautier found his most powerful enemy is not the entities or humans that surround him, but his real enemy is himself and his ego. Sneaky enemies sought to boost his traitorous ego up in an effort to bring out the Malachi. Insightful and exciting page-turning plot twists show the great power of love and how simple words can create and destroy people (and even powerful beings).

…for some reason, I felt oddly bereft and slightly depressed after reading this. Illusion can’t come soon enough! I NEED to know what happened next! RAAWWWWWWR!

Review: No Mercy (Dark-Hunter #18) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Posted on Updated on

No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #18; Were-Hunter, #5)

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

My Review

The story of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s No Mercy is about a shapeshifter named Dev and a Dark-Hunter named Samia. Together, they brave obstacles and find love in the arms of one another.

A typical story, right?

As an adjunct to her other Dark-Hunter Series, it tells of a wider story line than your typical novel. Unlike the usual book series that features a limited range of characters and focuses on only one main character, Kenyon’s novels focus on a large scale world with different characters for every novel and a different perspective on each. According to the series’ summary in, it has four main books about the four main characters, Acheron, Jaden, Savitar, and a fourth that hadn’t yet been named.

Within the book, No Mercy, lies the ff. stories:
1. The main story, which is about Samia and Dev;
2. Epilogues of former Kenyon books like Acheron, and Bad Moon Rising, and;
3. Sneak peek of other characters’ (those that will have future books of their own) personalities, e.g. Savitar, Thorn, Nick (Nick has his own series, The Chronicles of Nick).

In addition, it’s packed with a lot of “lip” which gives it a heavy dose of comedy. The book itself can stand alone and could be an introductory book for books printed before it. So, whichever book you start with, doesn’t really matter. However, for best results, refer to the reading list on her website (but it’s just for formality I guess, I actually started with the third book before I read the others and it didn’t make that much of a difference).

The fight scene in the book is commendable, the emotions heartfelt, and the characters alive. There wasn’t one left stagnant or imperfect. Every one of the characters have their own emotions and pasts to deal with. The way that Sherri has planned the plot on which Samia and Dev could and would be together, shows how much a person (no matter what kind of specie you are) is willing to sacrifice to be with the one they love. Moreover, it once again proves Kenyon’s favorite saying: “Happy endings happen even to those who don’t believe in them.”

No Mercy is highly recommended to contemporary romance, paranormal romance enthusiasts, and also to those who had given up on love.
