Character Interview: Man in Shadow

Posted on Updated on

Hello! Once again, it is I, your ever trusty interviewer, putting herself on the line for your reading pleasure. As you can remember, I have sent interview requests all throughout Draconica and I got another reply from them. Isn’t that exciting? This time, it is from someone named Man in Shadow (MIS). As he is somewhat of a shady character, I was wary and sent off a pre-formulated set of questions akin to a Slam Book. Despite what other people say, I am not that suicidal. So here are MIS’s answers:

Well hello there mortals! Man in Shadow here, your all-time favourite misanthrope.

So recently, a few members of the Draconica series have been doing these things called “interviews” and I’ve been asked if I like to do one. Like I haven’t got enough on my plate already with plotting to destroy the world and Final Ragnarok to plan!

Well, I suppose I can take a FEW minutes out of my busy schedule to answer these questions. Let’s see how bored I become. And I should warn you, Francine, when I get bored – people tend to get hurt…

Oh well, here we go. Let’s see what we can do.

Color: Blood. What, that’s a colour isn’t it?

Food: Don’t know. I don’t eat.

Drink: I don’t drink either. Unless it’s people’s tears.

Hangout Place: Anywhere I choose.

Weekend Activity: Planning the destruction of all life as we know it. You know, a nice relaxing activity.

Song: Ah yes, the “Screams of agony of the dead and dying” are my favourite. Don’t know it? I’d be happy to play it for you. In fact – you can be the vocalist.

Role Model: Role models don’t exist – they are just there as a symbol so people think they can achieve something, which is pointless.

Word: Oblivion.

I read the sample chapters and I love them! True, you should read the former books before this one but the intro chapters are awesome! You should really try reading them~ :3 It made me cry and it made me want to rain all kinds of plague over Dan Wright’s head for what he did to my beloved Finn Taurok. What? What did he do you ask? Just click at the links below and find out for yourselves. I’m still plagued with a whirlwind of emotions. This author is good with transforming anime and manga scenes into words. Reading his books feels like you’re reading comics. That’s how good his visuals are.

Character Interview: Surprise Guests (#Finn and #Rana)

Posted on Updated on

-Hello, everyone! Welcome to another edition of Let’s Maim Tsukime for Her Uncontrollable Mouth. Just kidding! It’s another fine evening for an interview with the Draconica characters. However, today, we are going to have a surprise guest. By surprise, I mean, I really have no idea who we’ll have today since I sent every Draconica creature an invitation for an interview. Hopefully, our guest wouldn’t be worse than Zarracka. I am still trying to regrow some of my toes from that mean frostbite and—

[Cue: Enter Finn and Rana amidst cheers of fangirls while the two wave like the elegant royals that they are]

Finn and Rana

-(loud stage whisper) OMG! It’s Finn—and Rana.

-Good evening, Your Excellencies, it’s so nice of you two to volunteer to be interviewed tonight. I know that you’re always busy with running Baalaria.

Finn: It’s a pleasure to be here. Dan asked us if we’d appear on your blog, and we agreed.

Rana: Pleasure to meet you, Francine.

So, What was it like to run an empire that had lived—and still is living—in darkness?

Finn:  I was kind of used to it, as I had lived in Baalaria most of my life. The constant darkness is the result of the War of the Brothers. Baala and Leonida (the founders of our empire and the now extinct Leonidan Kingdom) waged a massive war that resulted in their deaths. During the fight, they sent thousands of tons of ash into the air that covered the land in darkness. It is pretty creepy at first, but you get used to it.

Rana: I for one took a lot to get used to it. I had heard stories about Baalaria being dark all the time – and it was confusing knowing which was night and day. But after a while, like Finn said, you get used to it.

What were the people’s reaction to being ruled by BOTH Emperor and Empress?

Finn: There are obviously those who take issue with it – bigots mainly. They just don’t like the idea of a woman being in charge. But Rana is my wife and I see no reason why she can’t rule alongside me. Considering she is a Dragonkin, I’d love the idea of her being in charge.

Rana, what was it like to be the sister of two headstrong Dragonkins?

Rana: I like to think I could be equally as headstrong as Daniar and Zarracka. Daniar and I have had our issues, but that’s in the past. We’re both really close now and stronger than ever. Blood is thicker than water after all. As for Zarracka – well, I think you know my feelings on her.

By the way, just say the word – I’ll make sure she suffers for what she did to you.

Thank you so much. I’m still missing several toes…

Having been chosen as Favorite Book of 2012 in Goodreads Choice Awards, Divergent is the first book of Veronica Roth’s Divergent Series (followed by Insurgent and then Alterant). Below is the blurb of the book, followed by the synopsis of the upcoming movie.

Book Blurb:

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is–she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are–and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
