In the Prince's Bed

Blurb

From bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries comes the first dazzling novel in a sexy new series featuring three half brothers. Bound together by the royal father who denied them, they’ve formed a pact to help each other achieve their every desire…including the women of their dreams.
Miss Katherine Merivale is desperate to make a respectable match — if only her childhood sweetheart would propose! Until he does, she can’t touch the fortune she’s inherited. So the last thing she needs is notorious rogue Alec Black putting her proposed marriage at risk with his distracting, smoldering gaze and moonlit kisses.
Alec, the Earl of Iversley — and one of three bastard sons of the Prince of Wales — is secretly searching for an heiress bride to pay his debts. Fiery Katherine seems the answer to his prayers, and her passionate response to his practiced seduction soon assures him that she is his. But Alec knows Katherine is looking for a love-match, and he wonders…what will happen when she discovers his deception?

My Review

This is a touching tale of two lovers who got together because of wrong reasons but eventually fell in love. It shows the different perspectives of people when it comes to marriage.

The female main character has a naughty streak which brightened the story a lot. I loved the contrast between prim and proper miss and the wanton coquette. The male main character is interesting, too. Though of royal birth, he has undergone a lot of difficulties as a child due to his bastard status. It made him into a determined and hardworking gentleman who would do anything to protect his tenants and land.

Together, they realize that true love means giving up even the material thing you had wanted most in your life if that’s what it takes to have your beloved by your side.

Review: Her Mad Hatter (Kingdom, #1) by Marie Hall

Her Mad Hatter (Kingdom, #1)

Blurb

Alice is all grown up. Running the Mad Hatter’s Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe is a delicious job, until fate–and a fairy godmother with a weakness for bad boys–throws her a curveball. Now, Alice is the newest resident of Wonderland, where the Mad Hatter fuels her fantasies and thrills her body with his dark touch.

The Mad Hatter may have a voice and a body made for sex, but he takes no lovers. Ever. But a determined fairy godmother has forced Alice into Wonderland–and his arms. Now, as desire and madness converge, the Hatter must decide if he will fight the fairy godmother’s mating–or fight for Alice.

My Review

An extremely engrossing and addicting read, this rendition of Alice in Wonderland can probably cause massive fandoms. Marie Hall makes her characters so real, you would seriously doubt if they really are in the real world or not. Having serious problems with mental stability, Mad Hatter is in his way to the point of no return, and only his Alice can save him. His Alice is a descendant of one of his past Alices who was better off as a very bad memory. Following the twists and turns of the multi-dimensional and multi-twisted plot, leaves the reader wanting to know and to read more. References to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie adds to the quirkiness and humor of the book. As the first installment of the Kingdom series, this book whets the reader’s appetite for more.

Review: Hook’s Pan (Kingdom, #5) by Marie Hall

Posted on Updated on

Hook's Pan

Blurb

Trishelle Page has known pain in her life, but instead of it making her weak, she’s stronger. Confident. That is until the day a fairy kidnaps her during her staring role in Peter Pan’s play and tells her not only do fairy tales exist, but that she’s the soulmate of the pirate they call Hook, making her question everything she ever thought she knew.

Captain James Hook is a man at the end of his rope. He’s not the villainous bastard tales have made him out to be. So when the curvaceous blonde drops, literally, at his feet he aims to prove it to her. If only to get her into his bed.

What neither one knows is that fate and magic are conspiring and they can deny the attraction all they want but the end is already written, it’s just a matter of getting there.

My Review

Hook’s Pan tells the story of Trishelle (Yes, she’s in Gerard’s Beauty as Betty’s best friend) and her fairy tale romance in the Kingdom.Determined to see her boys mated, the fairy Danika decided to drop Trishelle right into Hook’s lap–literally. Taking Captain Hook’s side and showing his perspective in the unending battle between the two infamous characters of Neverland, Marie Hall presented us with Hook’s other side, giving logical and strong reasons as to why the dear gorgeous, sexy, and irresistible captain hated the young Peter. With wonderful remakes of the memorable characters from the childhood tale, Peter Pan, and some new characters that are diverse and definitely interesting, Hall presented us with this creatively twisted plot that gave Captain Hook his sought-after Happy Ending.

PS
I love Hook!

Review: No Mercy (Dark-Hunter #18) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Posted on Updated on

No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #18; Were-Hunter, #5)

Blurb

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

My Review

The story of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s No Mercy is about a shapeshifter named Dev and a Dark-Hunter named Samia. Together, they brave obstacles and find love in the arms of one another.

A typical story, right?

Wrong.

As an adjunct to her other Dark-Hunter Series, it tells of a wider story line than your typical novel. Unlike the usual book series that features a limited range of characters and focuses on only one main character, Kenyon’s novels focus on a large scale world with different characters for every novel and a different perspective on each. According to the series’ summary in sherrilynkenyon.com, it has four main books about the four main characters, Acheron, Jaden, Savitar, and a fourth that hadn’t yet been named.

Within the book, No Mercy, lies the ff. stories:
1. The main story, which is about Samia and Dev;
2. Epilogues of former Kenyon books like Acheron, and Bad Moon Rising, and;
3. Sneak peek of other characters’ (those that will have future books of their own) personalities, e.g. Savitar, Thorn, Nick (Nick has his own series, The Chronicles of Nick).

In addition, it’s packed with a lot of “lip” which gives it a heavy dose of comedy. The book itself can stand alone and could be an introductory book for books printed before it. So, whichever book you start with, doesn’t really matter. However, for best results, refer to the reading list on her website (but it’s just for formality I guess, I actually started with the third book before I read the others and it didn’t make that much of a difference).

The fight scene in the book is commendable, the emotions heartfelt, and the characters alive. There wasn’t one left stagnant or imperfect. Every one of the characters have their own emotions and pasts to deal with. The way that Sherri has planned the plot on which Samia and Dev could and would be together, shows how much a person (no matter what kind of specie you are) is willing to sacrifice to be with the one they love. Moreover, it once again proves Kenyon’s favorite saying: “Happy endings happen even to those who don’t believe in them.”

No Mercy is highly recommended to contemporary romance, paranormal romance enthusiasts, and also to those who had given up on love.

Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm… Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones. Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there’d be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them.
